“Weathering the Storms of Life”
By: Elayne Potter Pearson - 2001 Mrs. Utah, author, and motivational speaker TIME: presentation/workshop can range for 60-90 minutes, as requested. L.D.S. model /or can be adapted to any setting.
SUMMARY Elayne offers practical, tried and true concepts to build a symbolic umbrella of “stress-busters” to help protect us from the small unexpected rain showers to the serious lightening and thunder storms of this earthly life. Heartfelt personal experiences, stories, songs, and scriptures will be given to give encouragement, help set necessary guidelines, and offer deeper insights. Life can be heavy, so Elayne lightens up the mood with this delightful presentation, and will answer the burning questions – “So, is it alright to say ‘no’ to a very worthy cause? Is it technically okay if I take a nap? Can I really make it to heaven, if they microwave meals and eat on paper plates?”
OBJECTIVES This uplifting presentation will teach the importance of balancing our mental, physical, spiritual, and social lives; recognize the symptoms when we are out of balance; and to stop, look, and listen to our body and soul. Additionally, it will help us realize and admit there is a vital need to recognize and limit our “want and should do’s” that often takeover our lives and crowd out the “need to and essential to do’s” in attaining our ultimate goals in this life.
APPROPRIATE AUDIENCE This positive presentation is ideal for anyone who is striving to live the crazy survival mode we find ourselves in with this hectic world. It is particularly appropriate for those who are trying to “do it all”- especially religious families dealing with conflicts of “perfectionism” while facing serious daily challenges. The speech can be tailored for children, teens, adults, couples, families, or organizations.
